Todays RV's contain many of the same appliances you would find in your home. This page will be dedicated to breaking down the most common failures and there solutions. When available we will also provide pictures of problems and their solutions. After several years and much advice from fellow campers, we have learned to repair almost any problem with our rig. This not only saves on money but also down time. If there is an area which you would like to see covered Contact Us.
We have a new and exciting Forum area stop by and ask all the questions you want on just about every subject. You may decide to even answer a few.
Question: Is it really necessary to have a water pressure regulator on the hose going to our RV?
Answer: Absolutely, not only should you have one it should be placed on the spigot end, and then the hose attached. This not only saves the RV plumbing but the water hose also. On more than one occasion we have seen hoses that look like they swallowed a small animal.
Question: Our refrigerator will not stay on in the gas mode or in the auto mode when we are not plugged in. Do you know what can cause this.?
Answer: There are a couple of reasons that this can occur. Provided you have a supply of gas then the first thing I would look at is the pilot sensor. The sensor tends to burn out if you use gas to run the refrigerator more often. It is an easy do it yourself project. Usually you can tell by looking at the end of the sensor it will be melted into a small bead or ball. The other possibility could be the control panel.
Question: The flame on my hot water heater is yellow, it just doesn't seem like it was last year?
Answer: Make sure your gas supply is good. Then the next thing you want to check here is the gas supply tube coming from the gas regulator. You may have a spiders nest or other obstruction. To clean this, just blow into the tube near the air mixture port on the tube. Do this with the regulator in the off position. You may also use a pipe cleaner to clean the obstruction out. If this is not the problem I would suspect the regulator. The flame should be blue with a touch of yellow.
Question: Our pedal on our toilet is broken. The serviceman wants to change the complete unit out, they said that is the only way to repair it. Is this true.?
Answer: Not necessarily, most times this occurs when the cable from the pedal to the lever breaks. Most times you can order a cable kit from most RV dealers. I will warn you this is a messy job but one that you can do yourself. The reason most servicemen want to change the complete unit is the fact that it takes half the time to do this. Remember there are only two bolts and a water connection.
